The Girl + The Bull

Visually enticing and gastronomically satisfying Western cuisine

Story by Gia Mendoza February 4th, 2016

different place, same taste

The Girl + The Bull, which once started as a neighborhood restaurant, has left their home in BF Paranaque and is now holding a pop up in its sister restaurant, 12/10 in Guijo st., San Antonio Village, Makati City, before they officially move in to their new home in Legazpi Village. However, you can be assured that holding a pop up restaurant far away from home won’t compromise the quality and identity of the food The Girl + The Bull is known for. Behold, here are just some of the mouthwatering dishes that The Girl + The Bull is currently offering. Try to hold the drool til you reach the end of this post!

A starters best seller, Mushroom Toast with ponzu, sour cream, and dill. The medley of flavors is guaranteed to make you greedy on this one!

Best to try The Girl + The Bull’s upgraded version of the classic mac n cheese with a touch of Italy. Their Rice Cakes “Cacio e Pepe” (which translates to cheese and pepper) will take you back to your childhood (with an addition of being a little reminiscent of the Venetian canals and street art around Rome ;))

For the bigger plates, they offer a little something for different cravings for everyone— from chicken to pork to beef and seafood. These are all good for sharing or eating by yourself, depending on your appetite.

The Girl + The Bull’s take on the Sloppy Joe sells fast with people who want a quick, but filling meal. Only Wagyu ground beef is used, topped with a sunny side up and cheddar cheese, in between a brioche bun. Eating it may be quite messy, but that’s just part of the fun.

This is their Pork Belly served with beetroot, crispy spinach, and peanuts. The fat of the pork adds to the juiciness and keeps the pork soft. I love the different complementing textures of the pureed beetroot and the crunch of the spinach and peanuts.

A The Girl + The Bull bestseller, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Three big and fried-to-perfection pieces of chicken served with french toast and balsamic maple sauce. If you’re visiting the pop up for this, make sure to come early as they only serve a limited number of plates! (Available only from Tues-Sat)

If you’re feeling more indulgent, the Angus Beef is the one for you. Medium-rare cooked steak with Bleu d’Auvergne (French Bleu cheese) infused mashed potatoes and red cabbage make the perfect combination for a full and happy stomach! The steak is cooked just right that you can actually tear through it with just a spoon! (Trust me, I’ve tried it!) For its price, it’s one of the best tasting and affordable steaks I’ve tried in Manila.

They say you’ve never been to The Girl + The Bull if you haven’t tried their famed Faux Twix. It’s basically their version of the famous candy bar, but the only difference is you know that this one was made with love. Shortbread, caramel, and felchlin chocolate, sprinkled with a little sea salt to balance the sweetness of the caramel. Best eaten with your hands so you can lick off the melted caramel and chocolate off your fingers! You’ve can never leave The Girl + The Bull without this sweet ending.

the adventurous eATING CONTINUES...

There are a lot more dishes to try in The Girl + The Bull pop up restaurant. On top of the great food, service was also top notch with the servers engaging in a friendly chat and leaving you a personalized note after your meal. After lunch, you can head on over to Restock (really just 10 steps away, or less if you have long legs), for a good cup of coffee and have a peek at their art gallery.
